- Description
- Sixteen year old Zack Nix received an organ transplant on August 10, 2024 at Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Zack's liver had tumors which turned out to be cancer and also was diagnosed with Abernethy Syndrome which affects the vascular system. Zack also was born with a heart defect called Tetrology of Fallot. He underwent open heart surgery at four months and failure to thrive as a baby. Zack is a determined, intelligent, gifted writer and even though he has been hospitalized many times during his young life he has never given in to feeling sorry for himself. His mom and dad surround him in support and encouragement. Zack's family faces a long journey of healing and medical visits over his lifetime. The average cost of an organ transplant ranges between $500,000 to a million dollars and includes many hidden costs such as travel back and forth to the hospital/clinic, missed work, expenses not covered by insurance, etc. Your purchase of Lynch Creek wreaths and related products will benefit COTA for Brave Zack to assist with a lifetime of transplant-related expenses. COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Association) is the premier 5013c non-profit organization assisting transplant families with fundraising assistance and support to ease the financial burden. Please make donations directly to COTA on Zack's COTA web site: https://cota.org/cotaforbravezack Thank you for your support and your decision to purchase something wonderful for your home for the holidays!
