- The Virginia Irish Dance Association (VIDA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Irish culture, dance, music, and the performing arts throughout Northern Virginia. Founded in 2016, VIDA supports Irish dancers and their families by creating opportunities that foster artistic excellence, community engagement, cultural appreciation, and personal growth. VIDA provides financial assistance, educational opportunities, and volunteer-driven programming that help dancers achieve their goals both on and off the stage. Through fundraising, sponsorships, and community partnerships, VIDA invests directly in its dancers by providing travel stipends for regional, national, and international competitions, supporting team costumes, funding workshops and training opportunities, offering scholarships, and recognizing exceptional achievement in Irish dance. Since 2021, VIDA has returned thousands of dollars to dance families through stipends and dancer support programs, helping reduce the financial barriers associated with competitive Irish dance. Beyond financial support, VIDA helps build a strong and connected dance community. The organization hosts cultural events, showcases, races, parades, family activities, volunteer initiatives, and educational programs that celebrate Irish heritage while providing meaningful experiences for dancers and their families. VIDA also manages resources such as costume and skirt rental programs, coordinates community performances, and encourages leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and service among its members. At its core, VIDA exists to ensure that every dancer has the opportunity to thrive. Whether supporting a first-time dancer, helping a World Championship qualifier pursue their dreams, funding artistic and musical enrichment, or creating lifelong friendships through shared experiences, VIDA is committed to enriching the lives of dancers and strengthening the Irish dance community across Virginia and beyond.
